Youth Jazz Ensemble is ideal for young people who are able to play to an intermediate and advanced standard. This group is for players of approximately Grade 4 and above.

Music worked on in rehearsals reflects the wide range of Jazz styles. We place an emphasis on good ensemble playing and improvisation. Young people will gain an understanding of the elements of improvisation, develop good ensemble skills and aural ability. Through the improvisation element, young people will gain a deeper understanding of functional harmony.
